体坛英语新闻:Anand, Topalov tie in seventh game at chess worlds
SOFIA, May 3 (Xinhua) -- Defending champion Viswanathan Anand and challenger Veselin Topalov finished with a draw here on Monday at the 58th move in the seventh game of the world chess championship.
Anand played with whites and choose Catalan opening as it was in all games when he started with these pieces. Up to now he managed to win the second and the forth game, and made a tie in the sixth game.
Topalov was more aggressive making the first 20 moves only for three minutes while Anand being more cautious made the first 20 moves for one hour. Ultimately, nobody has any significant advantage during this game and the two rivals shook their hands after four hours and 40 minutes of play.
Anand is ahead 4-3 as the Bulgarian challenger managed to win only the first game. However, in the remaining five games Topalov is going to play triple with whites while the Indian grandmaster will do it twice.
The eight game is scheduled for Tuesday.
The first symbolic move in the seventh game on Monday was made by former World Chess Champion Anatolii Karpov who visited Sofia invited by the match's organizing committee.
Karpov had a meeting with the Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov and there he presented his application for president of the World Chess Federation (FIDE).
