BERLIN, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- Paderborn came from behind to stun Frankfurt 3-1 while Hoffenheim shared the spoils with Hamburg following a 1-1 to close the eighth round of Bundesliga on Sunday.

Newly promoted Paderborn turned the tides at Frankfurt to snatch a victory on the road. Both sides staged an unspectacular first half where goal-scoring opportunities remained a rare occurrence. However, things changed with the restart of the game.

Frankfurt controlled the proceedings at the first half pace but they retracted after the break. Yet, they were able to break the deadlock out of the blue at the 57th minute.

Frankfurt's Alexander Meier made use of Takashi Inui's pass to the edge of the box to slot home with assistance of the inside of the right post.

Paderborn responded and restored parity at the 66th minute with a joker goal through substitute Marvin Ducksch, who was fielded just two minutes earlier. Ducksch exploited a one-two with Stefan Kutschke to net into the top right corner.

Frankfurt tried to find an answer but it were again the newly promoted visitors who took the lead for the first time by courtesy of Uwe Huenemeier's goal from eleven meters at the 79th minute.

Frankfurt remained shocked meanwhile Paderborn were not done with the scoring as substitute Stefan Kutschke marked the second joker goal of the game to seal the deal against the "Eagles" .

The victory moves Paderborn on the 7th place while Frankfurt slip to the 8th place.

Elsewhere, Hoffenheim squandered a neat victory as Hamburg's Pierre Michel Lasogga equalized the scores.

Hoffenheim caught a bright start and opened the scoring with 15 minutes into the game. Hoffenheim's Anthony Modeste completed a fast break by nutmegging Hamburg's goalkeeper Jaroslav Droby from very close range.

However, it was a short-lived joy as Hamburg fought back at the half-hour mark when Lasogga equalized the scores.

Both sides pressed for the victory but all their efforts remained fruitless. With the result Hamburg moved on the 16th position whereas unbeaten Hoffenheim sliped to 3rd.
