国际英语新闻:Zelaya calls for rejection of Honduras' election outcome
Zelaya's associate Rassel Tome on Tuesday made the announcement and asked the presidents to limit their cooperation with the de facto Honduran government so that the coup does not go unpunished.
Hondurans cast their ballots on Sunday in an election which, for the most part, was not recognized by the international community.
Hondurans elected Porfirio Lobo Sosa as their new president in a relatively calm election closely watched by observers and the international press.
"I urge you not to recognize this electoral fraud and ask for your cooperation so that these bloody violations to human rights do not go unpunished," the message from Zelaya said.
"To legitimize coups d'etat through fraudulent electoral processes separates and does not contribute to unity in the American continent," the letter emphasized.
Zelaya also said in his letter that the "winner" of the presidential elections in Honduras on Sunday is the abstention of the people, and the abstention rate was as high as 65 percent according to his information sources.
He also said on Sunday after the election that "the Honduran people did not accept the electoral process as valid." "They did not feel it belonged to them," he said.
"Today we defeated (de facto leader) Micheletti at the voting ballots, we defeated the violence at the voting ballots," he added.
