During a ceremony in the Tiburcio Carnas Andino National Stadium in Tegucigalpa, President of the National Congress Juan Orlando Hernandez placed on Lobo the presidential band.
"I pledge to be faithful to the republic and ensure its laws are enforced," Lobo said in his oath.
"We are ready to face the future united ... I am sure that the dialogue solves everything," he added.
"We wish the national reconciliation to be expanded into a necessary and indispensable reconciliation with the national community," Lobo said.
During his inauguration ceremony, Lobo also signed an amnesty decree for forgiving those involved in the coup on June 28, 2009, that ousted President Manuel Zelaya.
The decree was approved by the National Congress at a session that started at 6 a.m. local time (1200 GMT).
"Today we want to cure the wounds of the past, today we want to become a nation taking the best experiences and join them with new and fresh ideas, according to the modern times of the world," Lobo said.
Lobo won the presidential elections on Nov. 29, with 55.9 percent of the votes, but the elections were highly questioned by the international community, as they were hosted under the de facto regime of Roberto Micheletti.
Despite that most of the international community refused to recognize the outcomes of these elections, high level representatives of the United States, Australia, Belize, Canada, El Salvador, India, Israel, Japan, Lebanon, Malta, Morocco, Peru, the Vatican, Switzerland, Turkey and European Union attended the ceremony.
Also Panamanian President Ricardo Martinelli, and Dominican Republic's President Leonel Fernandez attended the event.
During the speech, Lobo said "we are receiving the country in the most difficult economic situation of its history, as we have a debt of some 3.5 billion U.S. dollars and due to the seven-month political crisis, Honduras stopped receiving more than two billion dollars of the international funds."
After the amnesty decree, Lobo signed the Paris Plan, which is a government plan for the coming 38 years.
