国际英语新闻:Honda to recall 412,000 U.S. vehicles over "soft" brakes
CHICAGO, March 16 (Xinhua) -- Honda said on Tuesday that it will recall 412,000 vehicles in the United States due to customer complaints of "soft" brake pedals.
Honda, Japan's second largest automobile manufacturer, said on Tuesday in a Statement that it would recall approximately 344,000 Odyssey and 68,000 Element vehicles from the 2007-2008 model years in the U.S. to modify the Vehicle Stability Assist modulator.
Customers told Honda about the brake pedals that feel "soft" and gets lower than normal to the floor before the vehicle stops. This condition tends to increase very slowly over time in affected vehicles, according to the statement of Honda.
Honda said in February that 437,763 vehicles worldwide needed repairs to fix airbags that may explode with too much pressure and spray out potentially deadly metal shards.
The safety recall of Honda fuels Japan's auto woes since Toyota recalled autos for unintended acceleration and faulty brake system.
