国际英语新闻：Bomb explosion in central Athens kills 1, injuring 1

An anti-terrorism squad has sealed off the area at Patissia in front of the offices of the Greek Society of Business Management, a state-controlled agency which was most probably the target of the attack, and investigated for clues.

Government buildings, offices of financial organizations, as well as homes of politicians have been frequently targeted by local anarchist guerrilla groups which operate in Greece for decades.

Next to the offices of the Greek Society of Business Management is a cafeteria which was full of people at the time of` the blast.

Police cordon off the explosion site in central Athens, capital of Greece, March 28, 2010. A strong bomb exploded here on Sunday evening in the entrance of a state-controlled agency at around 11:15 pm local time, causing one death and one injury, police said.

According to latest information, this time there was no warning telephone call made to local media, as it usually happened when local terrorist groups planned bomb attacks in the past few years.

Terrorist attacks have been stepped up in Greece after the fatal shooting of a teenager by a policeman on December 2008.
