国际英语新闻:Dow tops 11,000 benchmark for first time in 18 months
The rise in sales followed a 0.9 percent January advance and marked the 11th straight month that sales have been up. Analysts are hoping that the string of sales increases will give a boost to the economy.
Listed companies are set to report their first quarter earnings from next week, while investors believe that earnings would improve as the economic recovery is on the way.

The Dow Jones industrial average gained 70.28, or 0.64 percent, to settled at 10,997.35, after toping the 11,000 benchmark for the first time since September 2008.
The Dow has been up 68 percent from a 12-year low of 6,547.05 on March 9, 2009. But it's still down 22 percent from its peak of 14,164.53 on October 2007.
The Standard & Poor's 500 index climbed 7.94, or 0.67 percent, to 1,194.37 and the Nasdaq was up 17.24, or 0.71 percent, to 2,454. 05.
