国际英语新闻：Apple iPad sales hit one million mark

SAN FRANCISCO, May 3 (Xinhua) -- Apple Inc. on Monday announced that it had sold one million iPad tablet computers in less than a month, hitting the mark twice as fast as the company's first iPhone.

The one millionth iPad was sold last Friday, the same day Apple began to release the 3G models of the device.

"One million iPads in 28 days -- that's less than half of the 74 days it took to achieve this milestone with iPhone," Steve Jobs, Apple's chief executive officer, said in a statement.

"Demand continues to exceed supply and we're working hard to get this magical product into the hands of even more customers," he added.

Apple first rolled out iPad on April 3 with Wi-Fi only models. All the models are now only available in the United States.

Due to unexpected strong demand in the U.S., Apple has decided to delay the international release of iPad by one month until the end of May.
