BISHKEK, June 24 (Xinhua) -- Supporters and relatives of the ousted Kyrgyz president Kurmanbek Bakiyev had promised to provide 30 million U.S. dollars to international terrorist groups to start the turmoil in the country's southern area, the Kyrgyz security service said Thursday.

The terrorist organizations, Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU) and Islamic Jihad Union (IJU), directly plotted and participated in the ethnic violence in the southern city of Osh and Jalalabad, Keneshbek Duishebayev, chairman of the Kyrgyz National Security Service, said, adding that Bakiyev's family members played active roles in the terrorist groups.

Bakiyev's relatives met last month in Afghanistan with representatives of the Taliban, the IMU and Tajik opposition to discuss plans to trigger unrest in Kyrgyzstan and promised to provide the terrorist groups with 30 million dollars, Duishebayev told a news conference in Bishkek.

Duishebayev said the IJU smuggled 15 well-trained terrorists to Kyrgyzstan last month, noting the terrorist group also sent another two teams to assist their terrorist plans, which were designed to attack national agencies and legislation buildings.

The terrorists entered Kyrgyz territory through Afghanistan and Tajikstan, he said.

According to Duishebayev, the results of the investigation have been confirmed by concerned countries.

Clashes occurred in a mainly ethnic Uzbek neighborhood of southern Kyrgyzstan this month, killing 214 people and injuring 2,137 others. The current clashes followed violence in May when supporters of Bakiyev clashed with backers of the interim government in the southern cities of Osh and Jalalabad.

Bakiyev has been in Belarus under its president's personal protection since April this year. He fled Kyrgyzstan after a popular uprising there ended his rule.

Next weekend, a referendum is to be held in Kyrgyzstan that aims to approve a new constitution and replace Kyrgyzstan's presidential-type republic with a parliamentary system.
