国际英语新闻:Komorowski wins Poland's presidential run-off
WARSAW, July 4 (Xinhua) -- Bronislaw Komorowski, the candidate of Poland's ruling Civic Platform party (PO), was elected new president of Poland for a five-year term in the country's second round of presidential elections on Sunday with 53.1 percent of votes, a TNS OBOP exit poll for TVP public television showed.
Komorowski, speaker of Poland's lower house of parliament and acting president, won 53.1 percent of votes, defeating his rival Jaroslaw Kaczynski, the leader of the conservative Law and Justice Party (PIS) and the twin brother of late Polish president Lech Kaczynski, who got 46.9 percent of the vote.
According to TNS OBOP, the turnout reached 56.2 percent.

The State Electoral Commission (PKW) said that it will announce the official results of the presidential run-off on Monday.
In the June 20 first-round presidential election, Komorowski received 41.54 percent of votes, while Jaroslaw Kaczynski received 36.46 percent, the PKW said.
According to election law, since no one secured an outright victory by garnering over 50 percent of the vote, a runoff between the two top contenders must be held in two weeks. A simple majority is needed to win the vote.
Komorowski took over presidential duties after the death of President Lech Kaczynski in an air crash on April 10 near Smolensk, Russia
The presidential elections were originally to have been held in October. Komorowski decided to call for an early election in accordance with election law.
