国际英语新闻:U.S. condemns disclosure of information suggesting Pakistan link with Afghan insurgency
WASHINGTON, July 25 (Xinhua) -- The United States on Sunday " strongly condemned" the disclosure of classified information that suggests Pakistan's military intelligence agency are guiding the Afghan insurgency, a senior official said.
"The United States strongly condemns the disclosure of classified information by individuals and organizations which could put the lives of Americans and our partners at risk, and threaten our national security," the National Security Advisor James Jones said in a statement.
"Wikileaks made no effort to contact us about these documents -- the United States government learned from news organizations that these documents would be posted," he said.
"These irresponsible leaks will not impact our ongoing commitment to deepen our partnerships with Afghanistan and Pakistan; to defeat our common enemies; and to support the aspirations of the Afghan and Pakistani people," he added.
These disclosed documents suggest that the Pakistani military intelligence agency has guided the Taliban in fight against the U. S., according to media reports here.
The U.S. reaction on this matter shows that it fears that the leak could hamper recent efforts by the Obama administration to improve relations with Pakistan, a key player in the Afghan war.
