国际英语新闻:Euro-zone economy grows by 1% in 2nd quarter
BRUSSELS, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- Eurozone economy grew by 1 percent in the second quarter compared with the previously quarter, the European Union (EU)'s statistical bureau Eurostat said on Friday.
According to flash estimate of Eurostat, the gross domestic product (GDP) of the 16-nation bloc that share the single currency increased by 1.7 percent year-on-year.
For the 27-member EU, the economy also registered a quarterly increase of 1 percent and a 1.7-percent increase over the same period of last year.
As the largest economy in the Eurozone, Germany's GDP rose by 2.2 percent in the second quarter compared with the previous quarter.
During the first quarter of this year, GDP in both the Eurozone and the EU gained 0.2 percent.
