国际英语新闻:Mexicana Airlines halts flights worldwide
LOS ANGELES, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- With an uncertain future, Mexico's biggest airline and the biggest foreign carrier at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) ceased operations worldwide as of Saturday morning.
All flights were expected to have been halted by 10 a.m., and stranded travelers were urged to go to the airline's website for instructions on getting refunds, LAX officials said.
Aeromexico and U.S. carriers, including Alaska Airlines, American Airlines and US Airways, continue to fly to Mexico.
Mexicana's domestic carriers MexicanaLink and MexicanaClick also will cease operations indefinitely.

Grupo Mexicana, the parent of Mexicana Airlines, filed for bankruptcy Aug. 3 after being unable to win union concessions.
An investors group, Tenedora K, bought 95 percent the airline Aug. 20, and Mexico's airline pilots union owns the remainder.
Executives with Tenedora K, which was formed to buy Mexicana, said last week that the purchase was "the first step in order to establish the conditions that will eventually allow for a process of restructuring," the Los Angeles Times reported.
Mexicana is Mexico's biggest carrier in terms of passengers. During the first half of 2010, more than 240,000 Mexicana passengers flew out of Los Angeles International Airport, according to Los Angeles World Airports which runs LAX.
