国际英语新闻:PLO official says Israeli rightists to foil negotiations
RAMALLAH, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- A Palestinian official on Thursday accused right wings representatives in the Israeli coalition government of trying to foil peace talks that resumed earlier this month.
"The right powers are preparing to destroy the political process from now by continuing settlement," Yasser Abed Rabbo of Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) said.
He added that the Israeli extremists had said they oppose to renewing a 10-month moratorium on Jewish settlement building in the West Bank. The freeze ends on September 26.
"This is a clear indication that the rightists like to block the negotiations and accuse the Palestinians of doing so though we and the international community demand settlement to stop," Abed Rabbo told voice of Palestine radio.
He said the United States, which brokered the resumption of the talks on September 2, "should actively intervene" along with all other Arab and international powers to "prevent the powers of extremism from thwarting the peace process."
