国际英语新闻:Germany celebrates 20 years of unification as Wulff calls for "new unity"
BREMEN, Germany, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Germans celebrated the 20th anniversary of unification Sunday with songs, dances, fireworks and street parties, while President Christian Wulff reminded another new mission on unity -- integration of different ethnic groups.
This year's official celebrations were held at the northwestern city of Bremen, which currently preside the Bundesrat, or the upper house of parliament, and took its turns as the leading city of festivities.
The celebration ceremony started with a church service, which was attended by more than 1,000 guests, including Chancellor Angela Merkel, President Christian Wulff, European Commission President Jose Manuel Barros and NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen.

Bremen organizers also set up a model of the Berlin Wall in a public square, aimed at telling people the history of the Cold war, Germany's division and unification through photos and stories.
Germany was officially reunited from the midnight of Oct. 3, 1990, 11 months after the fall of the Berlin Wall, a symbol of the country's four-decade division after the World War Two -- the Federal Republic of Germany in the west and the German Democratic Republic in the east.
