国际英语新闻:U.S. not fail in complying with obligations on tyre-measures against China: WTO
GENEVA, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- The World Trade Organization (WTO) said in a report on Monday that the United States did not fail to comply with its obligations in imposing the transitional safeguards measure on Sept. 26, 2009 in respect of imports of subject tyres from China.
The report was issued by a special panel, which was appointed by the WTO Director-General Pascal Lamy on March 12, 2010.
On Sept. 11, 2009, the U.S. announced its measures with increased tariffs on certain passenger vehicle and light truck tyres imported from China.
Three days later, China requested consultations with the United States concerning the issue, holding that the higher tariffs were inconsistent with the WTO rules, and the measures applied by the U. S. were inconsistent with its obligations under China's Accession Protocol.
