国际英语新闻:GM recalls nearly 100,000 crossovers over safety belt problem
CHICAGO, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- General Motors Co. is recalling 97, 843 crossover vehicles to fix seat belts that could fail in a crash, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Friday.
The recall includes 2011 model year versions of the Cadillac SRX, Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain, the automaker said that the safety belt buckle anchor for the driver and front passenger seats may fracture and separate in a crash, increasing the risk of injury by failing to restrain the occupants.
GM spokesman said the automaker didn't receive any reports of injury or crash due to this problem, and they found the problem during testing in September.
The recall is expected to begin in mid-January, and dealers will fix the seat belt buckle free of charge.
