国际英语新闻:Iran sees Istanbul meeting a good talk opportunity: official
MOSCOW, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- Tehran sees the upcoming Istanbul nuclear talks between Iran and other five powers a good venue for dialogue, visiting Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Mohammad Mehdi Akhundzadeh said.
"I think this meeting is creating a very good opportunity for dialogue between the parties, for demonstrating mutual respect, and for discussing issues of mutual interest," Akhundzadeh told Interfax news agency in an interview.
"The Istanbul meeting also offers a good opportunity for countries to realistically see reforms and changes underway in the region and in Iran," he added.
The official also mentioned the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, which was built by Russians, saying the plant will be fully commissioned in mid-February.
"Now, numerous technical procedures have been done, the nuclear power plant has gone through all the testing stages. The energy to be generated will soon flow into the national grid," Akhundzadeh said.
Meanwhile, he reiterated that Iran's nuclear program is " absolutely transparent and is being implemented within the limits of the countries needs."
In addition, Akhundzadeh also held talks with his Russian counterpart Sergei Ryabkov, Russian Foreign Ministry Tuesday said on its website.
According to the statement posed on the website, the two have discussed the upcoming Istanbul meeting, especially the context of the meeting.
The new round of nuclear talks between Iran and China, France, Russia, Britain and the United States plus Germany (G5+1) is scheduled to take place in Istanbul, on Jan. 20-21.
Iran resumed nuclear talks last month in Geneva with the G5+1 nations after more than a year of suspension.
