RAMALLAH, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- A senior Palestinian official on Saturday welcomed any meeting with the international Quartet urging it to make a firm position concerning Israeli settlement to resume peace talks with Israel.

Nabil Abu Rdeineh, spokesman of the Palestinian Presidency told Xinhua following a meeting of the Quartet held in Munich in Germany "Our ties with the Quartet are good and we are ready to keep dealing with it."

He stressed that "If the Quartet really wants to find a solution to the Middle East cause, it has to put the Palestinian cause in its priorities because without resolving this cause, all other causes will remain unresolved."

He warned that the entire region of the Middle East is in "a status of boiling," adding that "The Israeli occupation is the central reason for all what is happening in the region."

He went on saying that the Quartet Committee "has to carry out a brave and powerful step to oblige Israel to stop settlement and deal with the issue of the Middle East more firmly and seriously, otherwise, the situation would be unstable."

Asked about what is happening in Egypt, and its influence on the Palestinian cause, Abu Rdeineh said "We wish real stability for Egypt and we hope that it gets back to normal life."

"Egypt is a great Arab country and its support to the Palestinian cause is great too. The entire region will be negatively affected with what is happening there," said Abu Rdeineh.

Earlier on Saturday, the Quartet, which convened in Germany, announced in a final statement that it will work on holding intensive meetings with Israeli and Palestinian negotiators in Brussels together with Arab representatives.

The Quartet urged the parties involved in the Middle East conflict to overcome their differences they face in the current stalled peace process.

The committee said that it is concerned with hearing the views of the parties over renewing the negotiations on substantial issues including the issues of security and borders.
