国际英语新闻:Contact Group on Ukraine expected to meet soon
MOSCOW, May 1 (Xinhua) -- The three-party Contact Group on the Ukraine crisis is expected to meet in the coming 10 days to discuss the current situation in the conflict-torn country, a representative of insurgents in eastern Ukraine said Friday.
"There will be a major meeting. Representatives of all the sides will take part in it," Denis Pushilin, the official envoy of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic to the group, was quoted as saying by the TASS news agency.
The planned meeting will focus on the introduction of working subgroups of the Contact Group, Pushilin said, adding that compromises have been reached on all the controversial issues.
Clashes between Kiev and pro-independence insurgents have not been rarely heard since the ceasefire came into force on Feb. 15 following the new agreement clinched in Minsk, capital of Belarus, with the two sides frequently blaming each other for violations of the truce.
The conflict in the country's eastern regions, which started in April 2014, has killed over 6,100 people and wounded more than 15,400 others, according to the latest United Nations estimates.
