欧美文化:UN supports Costa Rica to fight hate speech with AI technology
UNITED NATIONS, March 2 (Xinhua) -- A United Nations spokesman on Thursday said the world body is joining hands with Costa Rica to fight hate speech using artificial intelligence (AI) and also develop the first national AI strategy in the Central American region.
UN team continues to support the country's efforts to combat hate speech through AI, leading Costa Rica to launch the region's first national plan to combat hate speech, said Stephane Dujarric, the spokesman.
"As part of their joint work, and also using AI, the team launched three major investigations on hate speech, discrimination against women, and xenophobia, working with civil society, the private sector, and authorities to help identify trends," he told a regular press briefing.
In partnership with UN team, Costa Rica will be the first in Central America to have a national artificial intelligence strategy, Dujarric added.
Costa Rican government has reached an agreement with the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to develop the national strategy with an ethical approach to artificial intelligence, promoting innovation that fosters sustainable development and human rights, said the spokesman.
