ISTANBUL, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- The ringleader of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in Portugal was arrested in Istanbul during a joint operation by the Turkish National Intelligence Organization and Istanbul Provincial Security Directorate, local media reported Sunday.
The semi-official Anadolu Agency reported Serdar Tunagur, who was alleged to engage in subversive activities in support of the PKK and took part in many of its actions in Portugal, was arrested in Istanbul.
Tunagur was sent to prison by order of the judicial authorities, according to the report.
The PKK, listed as a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the United States, and the European Union, has been rebelling against the Turkish government for more than three decades.
