丰田汽车油门踏板引发的危机

丰田将向全球召回百万辆问题汽车，问题主要出在油门踏板。丰田已经向中国用户道歉，并宣称中国市场将有7万5千辆汽车被召回。

Problems with accelerator padels have forced Japanese automaker Toyota to recall millions of cars around the globe. Over 75,000 models are set to be recalled from China on Februrary 28th. On Monday, Toyota made an apology to Chinese car owners over its faulty pedal systems.

Toyota has launched a media campaign to bolster its reputation for quality. Henry Liu, deputy head of Public Relations Department for Toyota China, says the Japanese automaker is sorry for the anxiety and confusion brought about by the recall.

Henry Liu, Deputy P/R Dept. Head of Toyota Motors China, said, "On behalf of the Toyota company, I extend our deep apology to our customers for the anxiety and confusion that the recall has brought about. We will try our best to make the faulty gas pedal system known to the public. We will send the parts to dealers across the country, and provide training for them. To make sure they have enough inventory and skills, we need time to prepare."

Liu admits that the gas pedals have a design and material defect.

Liu said, "The defect is due to a lack of durability in the material. When the pedal is used often, the friction creates a block-up. This problem will become even more serious when the friction gets stronger."

Analysts say the current credibility crisis could be the most severe since Toyota entered the Chinese market. The Japanese automaker even picked up the nickname "King of Recalls" after issuing at least four product withdrawals in China in 2009. The pullbacks involved 1 million vehicles, including best-selling models like the Camry and Corolla.

30日法国标致雪铁龙(PSA)公司再次宣布召回近10万辆汽车，这次召回的汽车为该企业与丰田合资在捷克合资工厂生产的标致107和雪铁龙C1。同时路透社的报道也证实了“PSA此次召回原因是与丰田汽车相同的油门踏板问题”。法国标致雪铁龙公司对标致107和雪铁龙C1近10万辆车的召回，是继福特全顺之后第二个受到丰田踏板门影响的车企。

据报道称，丰田已从美国、加拿大、欧洲和中国分别召回约230万辆、27万辆、180万辆和7.5万辆油门踏板问题车。
