As China ushers in the year of Dragon, people across the country are celebrating the arrival of spring and luck, and embracing a new start. XXX takes a look at festive traditions that have been carried out for thousands of years.
在中国迎接龙年的时候，全国人民正在庆祝春天和好运的到来，迎接一个新的开始。XXX将去看看那些进行了几千年的节日传统。

A fine collection of vivid dragon paper cuts. That’s the how this 33-year-old farmer in Shanxi Province celebrates the lunar new year.
精美、生动的龙剪纸。这就是山西省这位33岁的农民庆祝农历新年的方式。

For his own special touch to the new year blessing, Zhang Bin adds festive symbols, such as coins and goldfish.
至于他自己对新年祝福的特别感触，Zhang Bin增加了节日的标志，例如硬币和金鱼。

Zhang Bin, Farmer, said, "This is the pattern of ’Dragon and Phoenix Present Good Fortune’. Here is a deer; this is a crane, embracing the spring together. This is the phoenix and peony, which are respectively the queen of birds and queen of flowers. The combination means riches and honor."
农民Zhang Bin表示：“这是‘龙凤呈祥’的图案。这是鹿，这是鹤，它们一起迎接春天。这是凤凰和牡丹，它们分别代表着鸟中皇后和花中皇后。这个组合代表着富裕和敬意。”

In the eastern Anhui province, a lantern show is taking place in  a cultural garden in Chizhou city.
在东部的安徽省，池州市的一个文化公园正在举行花灯展。

The traditional motif of two dragons playing with pearl, the poetic presentation of ancient stories....Each carrying special meaning and blessings, the lanterns have brought all the visitors a festive feast for the eye.
双龙戏珠的传统主题，古代传说的诗意呈现…每个灯笼都有着特别的意思和祝福，这些灯笼为所有游客带来一场节日的视觉盛宴。

In the historic city of Xi’an in Shaanxi province, the whole city is decorated in lanterns and streamers.
在陕西省的历史名城西安，整个城市都装饰上灯笼和彩旗。

Tens of thousands of lights have been lit up along the west street. A 60-meter dragon floats from the sky.
成千上万的灯点亮了西街。一条60米长的龙在空中漂浮。

Xi' An Resident, said, "I was born and bred in Xi’an. I love the city. The new year atmosphere grows more intense year by year."
西安市民称：“我生于西安，长于西安。我喜欢这座城市。年味一年比一年浓。”

Xi' An Resident, said, "I work in other places and only return to Xi’an for Spring Festival. But every time I come back home, it just feels so good. Xi’an is getting more and more beautiful."
西安市民称：“我在其它地方工作，我只在春节回西安。但是每次我回家，感觉都如此好。西安变得越来越漂亮。”

On the eve of the lunar new year, drifting snow has added to the atmosphere in many places.
在除夕，飘雪为许多地方增添了气氛。

It’s a new look for the World Expo Garden in Shanghai. The contrast of colors makes the China Pavilion look especially splendid.
这是上海世博园的新貌。色彩的对比使中国馆看起来尤为壮观。

Visitor, said, "Our whole family is celebrating the new year here. We feel very lucky to see the beautiful scenery."
游客表示：“我们全家人在这里庆祝新年。看到这种美景我们感到非常幸运。”

Snow has also fallen in Yantai, East China’s Shandong province.
中国东部山东省的烟台也下起了雪。

Freezing cold and stormy waves have produced a marvelous icy spectacle for visitors and photography fans.
严寒和暴风雪为游客和摄影爱好者提供了极好的结冰奇观。

Chinese say "a timely snow promises a fruitful year". This weather forecast, at least, indicates good things ahead in the Year of the Dragon.
中国人常说“瑞雪兆丰年”。起码，这种气象预报预示着前面龙年的美好事物的到来。
