June the 8th is the second day of China's national college entrance examinations, or Gaokao, and also the last chance for many high school students to secure a brighter future.

More than 9 million students are taking the test this year, 2% fewer than last year. That means more students are expected to win places at Chinese universities. However, the nation has increased the punishment for those caught cheating.
