伦敦的新年游行

Around half a million people have lined the streets of London to see more than 10,000 performers from 20 countries perform in the city’s New Year’s Day Parade. The theme of the parade this year is "Hats Off To London, Celebration Capital of the World".

It featured many of the volunteers from the Olympics, as well as cheerleaders and marching bands from the US. They dressed as popular characters like Darth Vader, Catwoman, Indiana Jones. Other performers also appeared, like traditional Morris folk dancers and belly dancers.

The event also featured performances put together by 33 of the London boroughs. The procession lasted 3 hours and a half, starting at The Ritz Hotel in Piccadilly and finishing at Parliament Street.
