European Commissioner for Justice, Viviane Reding has written to US Attorney General Eric Holer, seeking answers over the surveillance leak. In her letter, Reding raised several questions concerning the US’s surveillance program, and required Holer to give a reply on a meeting scheduled on Friday in Dublin.

She demanded to know whether European citizens have also come under surveillance, and if they’ll be treated the same as US citizens. Reding reminded Holder that the European Parliament would assess relations between the two sides based on his answers. Europe and the US are initiating free trade negotiations across the Atlantic Ocean, and the recent revelation is feared to hinder talks.
