South Korea has long before launched its 4G service, as early as 2011, and over half of the cellphone users have joined the program. So from the country, let’s take a look at some of the other major 4G markets around the world.

There are over 20 million 4G network subscribers in South Korea.

That’s more than half of all cellphone users in the Northeast Asian country.

S. Korean telecommunications is the first company to upgrade mobile network speed, back in the year of 2011.

It took nine months to setup nationwide coverage.

Now a service boom.

"A rapid growth of high definition videos and photos transmission. In the past, we can only browse the content after download it, but now we can almost do it at the same time."said Choi Jong Hyun, a S.Korea employee.

But a faster internet experience costs more than the 3G network.

"4G network brings us more convenience in life, but the current toll charges are relatively high, which is a burden." said Hong Yeon Ju, a subscriber in S.Korea.

However in the US, the 4G toll fees are more reasonable, and the speed is sometimes even faster than broadband connection.

That makes it a good substitute of WIFI, and a cheap one.

But 4G service is growing slowly in the UK.

Carriers haven’t done enough promotions on its advantage, while the much higher toll charges scare many subscribers away.

Analysts believe that with more carriers starting to provide 4G network service, so too comes fierce competition, and of course, cheaper toll fees.

Back in Asia, China is soliciting applications on its very own 4G network standard, and is set to issue 4G licences by years end.
