第四届北京国际电影节开幕

China’s top film festival, the Beijing International Film Festival is into its fourth year. It will run from April 16th through to the 23rd, and 15 films have entered the final round of competition for the awards. And the jury this year is headed by renowned Hong Kong director John Woo.

The 15 final competing films have been selected from 837 film from 88 countries. They include the French romance film "A Promise", Romanian drama "Carmen" and the award winning South Korean film "Hope". Two Chinese films are also part of the selection, "The Grandmaster" and "American Dreams in China".

"The Chinese films chosen are from last year, I think they are rich in artistic expression and profound in their messages," said Zhao Zhiyong, Deputy chief secretary of Beijing International Film Festival.

The opening film of the event is French film "The Beauty and the Beast", while the jury is headed by John Woo. Chinese director Lu Chuan is also part of the jury.

"This year we classified quality films into different genres and arranged screenings at specific times, so people interested in a particular type can come and watch all the films they like in one visit," said Zhao.

The screenings are available across theatres in Beijing, and include 260 highly acclaimed films from a host of countries. The tickets are available for pre-order online, so grab one and get ready to join this cinema celebration in Beijing.
