NBA:凯文杜兰特获得第一个MVP奖杯
Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant has been a prolific scorer throughout his NBA career as the Slim Reaper has led the league in scoring four of the last five years. But his play this year has lifted KD to new heights as he has been named the Association's MVP for the 2013-2014 season.
Durant went on a scoring tear this season, scoring 25 points or more in 41 straight games, the best such mark since Michael Jordan did so 25 years ago as he finished with an exceptional average of 32 points per game.
The NBA scoring champ also needed to pick up the slack as three-time All-Star Russell Westbrook was in and out of the lineup due to multiple knee surgeries. Durant finished second to Miami's LeBron James the previous two years in the MVP running.
This year, Durant outdistanced LBJ in the voting garnering 119 of 125 first-place votes. And it was an emotional occasion for the league's new MVP.
"My dream was to become a league coach that's what I wanted to do. I wanted to stay home and help the kids out and be a coach. I love basketball so much. I love playing it. I just never thought that I would make it to college NBA or stand up here today in front of you guys and be NBA MVP, It's just surreal feeling and I had so much help so many people believed in me when I didn't believe in myself so many people doubted me and motivated me every single day to be who I am. I failed so many times and got back up I've been through the toughest times with my family but I'm still standing," said Kevin Durant.
