中国加强食品安全监督

China's Health and Family Planning Commission says China has intensified its monitoring and supervision of food safety. Pollutants in dairy products and flour have been reduced, and the curbs have been enacted on the overuse of veterinary drugs and additives.

In 2013, China tested 420,000 food samples, which revealed food safety hazards mainly from environmental pollution, production processes and banned substances.

Meanwhile, according to a recent poll by the China Consumer News shows over 88% of consumers regard "safety" as the most important criteria in buying food, which is followed by "prices, taste and packaging". 41% of consumers believe food safety problems arise due to food which is shoddy and inferior in quality.
