第一批104名也门撤侨飞抵北京
Chinese state News Agency, Xinhua, has said that the first group of 104 Chinese nationals evacuated from war-torn Yemen arrived in Beijing. They're part of 580 Chinese nationals who've fled the country in recent days, amid nightly airstrikes by a Saudi Arabian-led coalition.
The evacuees arrived at Beijing Capital International Airport late on Tuesday, after departing from Ethiopia, via neighboring Djibouti.
China's ambassador to Djibouti, Fu Huaqiang, says the evacuation is continuing smoothly. The rest of evacuees are being placed in temporary accommodation, while flights will be arranged to bring them back home to China.
China's Foreign Ministry says that a few Chinese nationals remain inside Yemen, and that it's doing everything it can to protect their safety.
