强冷空气袭击中国大部分地区
Today is what's known in China as the "Great Cold", the final period in the traditional Chinese solar calender, and the coldest part of the year. And this week, the weather has lived up to its name, with China currently being blasted by the strongest cold wave yet this winter.
Weather forecasters say many areas in the northern and eastern regions are expected to witness temperature drops of up to 14 degrees Celsius. And eastern provinces like Anhui and Zhejiang are set to see their lowest temperatures this winter.
Meanwhile, the cold air has also brought large scale snow showers to provinces and regions in the south. Authorities say the impact of the cold wave is expected to last for a week, ushering in more days of subzero temperatures and snow.
