The spread of the Zika virus across the Americas is becoming increasingly alarming. The World Health Organisation said on Tuesday that it suspects a link between the Zika virus and a rare birth defect that sees babies with abnormally small heads. But according to a WHO spokesman, the evidence so far is just circumstantial.
The WHO says the task right now is to try to establish a link between the virus and microcephaly. The latest report from the WHO says more than 30 countries and regions have so far reported outbreaks of the Zika virus, which is spread by mosquitoes. Brazil is the most seriously affected country, with close to 4,000 microcephaly cases reported nationwide.
