英国首相卡梅伦辩论英国退欧公投
British Prime Minister David Cameron had his first live television debate regarding the Brexit on Thursday night.
In an hour long discussion, Cameron stuck to his belief in Britain remaining a member of the EU. The Prime Minister was pressed by audience members on hot issues like immigration, security and the economy.
With three weeks until voting day, the referendum campaign is growing increasingly heated, with polls suggesting a tight result.
And speaking on the status of the UK within the EU, Cameron said the UK had "the best of both worlds", adding that the deal he negotiated gives the UK a special status within the bloc.
"After six years of being prime minister, I can honestly tell you that the cooperation we get through the European Union and the intelligence and the information does matter." said Cameron.
"And to answer very directly. Yes of course if we left I'm sure we'd find a way to try to get back into the structures of the organization and the information exchange that we're currently in but it would take us a lot of time, a lot of effort."
