韩国总统改组内阁
South Korea’s presidential office has named a new prime minister and finance minister. This is in the wake of the scandal involving President Park Geun-hye and her friend, Choi Soon-sil. Choi allegedly meddled with state affairs and used her connections to the president to enrich herself.
The Blue House has named Kim Byong-joon as the new prime minister. Kim was a senior presidential secretary during former President Roh Moo-hyun’s administration. The presidential office also named Yim Jong-yong, the Financial Services Commission chairman, as finance minister and deputy prime minister.
Choi was interrogated on Monday after apologizing for an “unpardonable crime,” and then arrested on Tuesday. A prosecution official said Choi has been taken to a Seoul detention facility.
