In the past, some cultural and history are shown in the museum. But now, people can use the Internet to see them freely. Therefore, they think we do not need museum in the future. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

In recent years, the Internet is becoming increasingly prevalent at amazing rate. Some people hold the opinion that public museums will no longer be needed because people can see cultural relic and historical objects by using a computer. But if I am concerned, I can only disagree with the statement.

The existence of museum is valuable in many respects. Firstly, public museums stand for the highest accomplishments in art and literature of humanity, not only those artifacts in showcases, but also museum buildings with long history. There is no doubt that famous museums always bringing elegant temperament and rich humanities to cities they were, for example, the British Museum in London, the Louver in Paris, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Secondly, we can achieve much more than just appreciate those art works during our visiting museums. The lectures and salons held by museums are significant opportunities to meet new friends with common interests. Also, the arrangement of lighting in the show rooms, the utilization of background color for different exhibitions, the lay out of museum itself can all broaden our horizon. Thirdly, one of museums’ responsibilities is protecting and restoring historical and cultural relic.

It is true that computers have brought great conveniences to our life. Seeing exhibitions of museums from a computer is an economical and time saving choice, especially when you are not able to see it in person. However, what we see from a computer screen is a digital image, not exactly the same as what we see and feel with our own eyes on site.

In conclusion, real public museums will never be replaced by the Internet. Computer technology is just a supplementary mean to cope museums offer better services to the public.
