Bulgaria beats Madagascar in Davis Cup

SOFIA, April 10 (Xinhua) -- Unbeaten Bulgaria went out confident for their third tie in the Davis Cup (Europe/Africa Zone, Group III) on Thursday against a Madagascar side that had one win and one loss after two ties, local press reported Thursday.

Bulgaria began the day well with Grigor Dimitrov defeating Jacob Rasolondrazana 6-3, 6-3. However, after taking a 3-1 lead in his own first set, Todor Enev lost his concentration and dropped 6-3, 6-2 to Tony Rajaobelina.

After the break the Bulgarians managed to come back onto the clay, and conclusively overcome Rasolondrazana and Rajaobelina 6-1,6-3 in just an hour.

Bulgaria are now well-placed to qualify for Group II for 2009 after three wins out of three. Of their last two matches, they will face a Zimbabwe side who were winless after two ties. The only major problem could come from Turkey who, like Bulgaria, had two wins before Thursday's play.
