(BEIJING, April 13) -- The men's trap competition of the "Good Luck Beijing" 2008 ISSF World Cup concluded this afternoon. Mario Filipovic of Slovakia earned the gold with a total score of 142 hits.

In spite of finishing fifth in the qualification round, Filipovic was in top form in the final and wrapped up a comfortable win with 142 hits, 2 more than that of the runner-up. The fight for the sliver and bronze medals, however, turned out to be white-hot.

Alexey Alipov of Russia, Bret Erickson of the US, and Josip Glasnovic of Croatia, all finished the final with an identical score of 140 hits. As such, they had to go through a shoot-off to decide their final rankings.

In the single-target shoot-off, Glasnovic missed the target first, putting him in fourth place in the final rankings, while Alipov and Erickson took second and third places, respectively. Jesus Serrano of Spain and Giovanni Pellielo of Italy, who tied at 137 hits, finished fifth and sixth, respectively, after the shoot-off.

China's Li Yajun, Li Yang, and Zhang Bing were all eliminated during the qualification round.
