Drawing of lots for Olympic Football tournaments to be held Apr. 20

(Beijing April 19) -- Brazil beat Ghana 5-1 on Saturday at the Beijing Workers' Stadium to become the final qualifier for the women's Olympic Football tournament. With the roster of qualifying teams for both the men's and women's Olympic Football tournaments now complete, FIFA has announced that the official drawing of lots for both tournaments will take place at 7:00 p.m. in Beijing on Sunday.

The twelve women's teams will be split into three pools; the top two teams in each pool and the top two third-placed teams will compete in the quarterfinals.

Besides host China, the other teams in the women's tournament will be: the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and Japan, representing Asia; Argentina and Brazil, representing South America; Germany, Norway and Sweden, representing Europe; New Zealand, representing Oceania; Nigeria, representing Africa; and Canada and the United States, representing North, Central America and the Caribbean.

"We don't choose teams to play against but we will do our utmost to progress," Fifa.com reported the Chinese women's coach, Shang Ruihua, as saying regarding the drawing of lots.
