Turkish President awards winners of Int'l Cycling Tour

ANKARA, April 21 (Xinhua) -- Turkish President Abdullah Gul awarded the winners of the 44th Presidential International Cycling Tour in southern province of Antalya, the semi-official Anatolia news agency reported on Monday.

"Turkey will host many international sports activities in the coming years and I hope some day Turkey will organize the Olympic Games," Gul said while addressing the ceremony on Sunday.

Garcia Dapena David of Spain's Karpin Galicia team ranked the first in the tour and the most successful team was Serramenti Pvc Diouigiovanni of Spain, said the report.

Some 150 cyclists of 25 teams from 16 countries competed in the tour which covers a grand prix in Istanbul and seven legs between the Aegean town of Kusadasi and Antalya's town Alanya.

The 44th Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey started at Istanbul's Sultanahmet square. The tour finished in Alanya town ofMediterranean province of Antalya on April 20.
