2008 Women's Asian Cup: DPRK beats Thailand 5-0

(HANOI, VIETNAM, May 28) --  The Democratic People's Republic of Korea took an overwhelming victory over Thailand in the opening match of the 2008 Women's Asian Cup football tournament on Wednesday. In the 8th minute of the match, Kim Kyong-Hwa found the net for DPRK, kicking in the first goal of the game. Around a half hour after the kick-off, Ri Kum-suk put in the second goal after Surachat, Thailand's keeper, failed to hold a cross. Just eight minutes before half time, Kim's fierce strike helped extend DPRK's lead to 3-0. In the 50th minute, Ri Un-Suk scored the fourth goal of the game. At the end of the one-sided match, a DPRK substitute, Kim Yong, scored the fifth goal right before the final whistle.
