Feng Shuyong: We won't risk Liu's health

(BEIJING, June 1) -- The news that Liu Xiang has been scratched from the Reebok Grand Prix worried his Chinese fans, reported sport.cn.

After a test event at the Bird's Nest, Liu Xiang travelled to the US. "His right hamstring doesn't feel normal when we undergo regular training. This has seldom happened before. I spoke with Sun Haiping, his coach, about this. We don't want to risk his health. That's why we decided to quit," said Feng Shuyong, vice-president of the Chinese Athletics Federation.

Feng is not yet ready to confirm whether or not Liu Xiang will make it to his next scheduled competition in Eugene.
