2008 FINA Diving World Series: China claims eight golds

(NANJING, May 31) -- In the second day of the 2008 FINA Diving World Series in Nanjing, China took four more gold medals, making their total count 8 first places in 8 events. On Saturday, the Chinese dominated in the women's 3m springboard, men's 3m synchro springboard, women's 10m synchro platform and men's 10m synchro platform.

Despite a weak third dive, Wu Minxia won the gold with a total of 377.50 points in the women's 3m springboard. Blythe Hartley of Canada picked up the silver while the bronze went to Anna Lindberg, a Swedish athlete who won her first medal of the series.

In the men's 3m synchro springboard, Qin Kai and Wang Feng's supremacy was very evident from the first attempt through the final dive. They never lost their lead and grabbed their third gold in the series. Nick Robinson Baker and Ben Swain of Great Britain won second place.

Wang Xin and Chen Ruolin clinched the gold in the women's 10m synchro platform with excellent performances. Marie-Eve Marleau and Emilie Heymans of Canada finished second in front of Tatiana Ortiz and Paola Espinosa of Mexico, who took the third place.

Zhou Luxin did brilliantly in the men's 10m platform with a striking total point score of 581.6. 14-year-old British diver Tom Daley missed his sixth dive, falling into fourth place, giving the silver to Jose Guerra Oliva from Cuba and

the bronze to Mexican Rommel Pacheco.
