Top seed from China falls flat at TMS Singapore Open

(BEIJING, June 7) -- Top seeded Gao Ning and Yang Zi from China were beaten by Leung Chu Yan and Li Ching from Hong Kong, the biggest upset on a disappointing second day of competition for the Chinese table tennis men's doubles teams on June 7.

Two other men's teams from China were defeated in the round. Ma Long and Wang Liqin were beaten by Han Ji Min and Lee Jung Woo from the Republic of Korea 2-4, and Japanese players Kishikawa Seiya and Mizutani Jun defeated Zhang Yu and Gao Lize.

China's last hope in the men's doubles competition rests with Chen Qi and Li Ping, who defeated Joo Se Hyuk and Lee Jin Kwon from the Republic of Korea

The TMS Singapore Open, which is the last major table tennis competition before the Olympic Games, started on June 5. All the events will be finished on June 8.
