DPRK tops 2008 AFC Women's Asian Cup

(BEIJING, June 8) -- The DPRK has claimed the championship title of the 2008 AFC Women's Asian Cup, defeating defending champion China on Sunday evening in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

China took the lead in the 11th minute when Bi Yan broke the DPRK defense and found the net.

But athletes from the DPRK stepped up their attack, and Ri Kum-suk tied the score in the 57th minute. 9 minutes later, Kim Young-ae 's goal secured the victory and championship for the DPRK.

In the bronze medal match that took place earlier, Japan defeated Australia 3-0.
