Machova shoots Czechs to win over Angola

Angola fought back from a 15-point deficit to trail by just six at half-time but the Czech Republic stamped their authority on proceedings the rest of the way and won 86-54.

Hana Machova exploded for 21 points, eight in the third quarter when Jan Bobrovsky's team took command. The Gambrinus Brno star drilled five of six shots from behind the arc.

The Czechs clinched first place in Group B with the triumph, and earned a quarter-final date with Japan while the Angolans finished second and will now take on Latvia.

Ivana Vecerova and Marketa Mokrosova had 12 points apiece for the winners.

Angola fought hard but were their own worst enemy at times, turning the ball over 28 times in the game.

Astrida Vicente had 12 points in defeat.
