Flash report: Lee Chong Wei crowned at 2008 Singapore Open

(BEIJING, June 15) -- Malaysian favorite Lee Chong Wei, No.1 seed in the tournament, scored a 21-13, 21-5 victory over Simon Santoso of Indonesia in the men's singles competition at the Singapore Open on June 15, 2008.

The Malaysian ace is currently ranked second in the world, after Lin Dan of China. He is an Olympic-bound athlete and a competent gold contender for Malaysia.

Chong Wei played impressively, at one time holding a 15 point lead over his opponent, an occasion rarely seen in the badminton men's singles finals. His rival, Santoso, No. 6 seed in the tournament, completely lost his edge in the match.
