Cunego powers back into ProTour lead

Fourth place overall in the Tour of Switzerland has propelled Italian Damiano Cunego back into the overall lead of the ProTour.

The Lampre rider had been squeezed out of the number one spot by Silence-Lotto Cadel Evans, the 2007 overall winner, thanks to the Australian's second place in the Dauphine Libere.

But Evans lead lasted a mere seven days. Cunego - who'd last gained points in a ProTour race when he won Amstel Gold - bounced back into first place again thanks to his strong ride in Switzerland, which earned him 31 points.

This means Cunego now has a total of 104 points, an eight point advantage over Andreas Kl
