Serbia to meet France in Lyon

(BEIJING, June 27) -- France will host Serbia at the Palais des Sports Gerland in Lyon from Friday through Sunday, for the second weekend of the volleyball World League.

France, Serbia, Venezuela and Brazil make up Group A, with Brazil automatically qualifying for the final as host. The rest of the teams will battle it out for the remaining spots in the final.

France is eager to win against Serbia to consolidate their second place position in the pool with seven points, like Brazil.

But Serbia, who ranked ninth in last year's edition, will undoubtedly go all out to play their best. With Ivan Milijkovic, one of the best spikers in the world, experienced setter Nikola Grbic and new talents like Marko Podrascanin and Novica Bjelica, they have a good chance of winning the title.

Serbia had been shocked by Venezuela last Saturday with a 1-3 loss (20-25, 25-19, 23-25, 22-25) but got revenge on Sunday with a straight-sets win (25-21, 25-21, 25-18.
